She Knows Australia is the Aussie version of the very popular She Knows in the states. The site is hugely popular with women around the world with articles on fashion, beauty, raising children, home decorating, entertainment, health and wellness and especially FOOD. Okay, maybe they aren’t especially food but that’s certainly my interest.
On June 4th Sherri Kuhn, a writer for She knows, published a top ten list of Australian Food Bloggers they love. A few weeks ago Sherri wrote to me to ask if it was okay to include me on their list of the best 10 food bloggers in Australia. (Yes you can laugh now but you could have heard me say yes from where you are now.) I was incredibly honoured and frankly gobsmacked that a site like She Knows knew about me at all. Those of you who know your blog is much better than mine is – you are right, we both know that. I just got lucky. 🙂
One of my good friends is on this list and a couple of blogs I’ve seen but the rest I’ve not met yet — but I’m on my way to make their acquaintance right now! I hope you’ll do the same and leave them a note. Some of them might be like me and really stoked about it.
Also included in the She Knows top ten Australian food blogs are:
Charlie from Hotly Spiced.
I’m going to be interviewing her very soon. I’m really looking forward to getting to know more about one of my favourite bloggers. I find her blog the most enjoyable read of the day. If you haven’t visited Hotly Spiced, I urge you to go but go when you have some time because you won’t be able to stop reading. Every post will make you laugh or make you cry and often she can do both in under 500 words.
Helen from Grab Your Fork
Helen is the brains behind the blog and she’s also a columnist, editor of a restaurant guide in Sydney, a writer and a reviewer. One of these days I would like to follow her around and eat out like she does. She chooses the best food.
Katie from What Katie Ate
What would you expect from a Sydney professional photographer who loves cooking? Nothing but the best and Katie never lets anyone down. I would love to watch her work one day.
TCB – The Backwards Chef
As a trained dietician, she’s always thinking up new ways to feel people who need her ideas. She’s committed to helping people put good food into their bodies – without strict recipes.
Emma fromm My Darling Lemon Thyme
Emma, a professional chef, has created the most beautiful blog filled with beautiful photographs and delicious gluten free and lactose free recipes. You don’t want to miss this one.
Cindy and Michael from Where’s the Beef?
This Melbourne based couple created a vegetarian blog without any beef at all! Think tofu. Think General Tso’s Tofu and you’ll be right on the mark. It looks delicious.
Roy and Liz from Strayed from the Table
Their most recent post is about the Maleny Show which is really close to where I live so maybe they don’t live too far away. Maybe a cup of coffee somewhere is in the cards.
Frank from A Moment on the Lips
Frank, yes, she’s a woman, who writes about every delicious moment and claims to have earned her fabulous womanly hips. Frank has a dessert blog and I can’t wait to go over there and see what I can find to make this week.
Sophie from Stovetop Revolution
Sophie works for a wine magazine and lives with 4 of her best mates in Sydney. She’s young, loves food and is definitely going places.
Thanks to She Knows Australia for making my day.
Now whether you call them spring onions, shallots or anything else, did you know that you can sit the ones you don’t need in a glass of water and they’ll keep growing the greenie bits? I must have been under a rock because I didn’t learn it until a few months ago from someone on Pinterest. Need some chopped green pieces for a dish you need to garnish or an omelet? Get out the scissors and snip off a stem. Another will grow right back. I’ve had these in the glass for over a week.
You know I was in Brisbane yesterday for Dani Valent’s Thermomix masterclass. John went to Brisbane with me because I was still waiting for the vertigo “cure” that happened today. Fingers crossed that it works.
John and I looked for a coffee shop someone on Twitter had told me about. I’ll write about that later but on our long walk to the dessert place I passed this shop. Isn’t this the greatest country in the world where you can tell people just what sort of work you do? Yes, I lol’d. Then I grabbed my camera.
