Okay, so these aren’t orgasmic unless you’re 8 years old or are craving a cookie or a piece of candy or maybe both. You may also have your mother’s recipe from when she made them when you were a kid.
If you’ve got a must-have urge for a cookie, these could be considered orgasmic. If you’re an American living outside the US and you’ve got a hankering for chocolate and peanut butter which aren’t normally found together anywhere else in the world, then these are definitely orgasmic. Truly. They’re a cross between an oatmeal/peanut butter/chocolate cookie and a piece of chocolate fudge.
The best bit is that they take about 5 minutes to make. Honestly, it takes longer to take the few ingredients out of the pantry than it does anything else. You cook the butter, sugar and cocoa until it boils and then pour it over the oats, peanut butter and coconut. Don’t like coconut? add nuts. It’s the chocolate mixture and the oats that set the cookie so you could put anything in there – maybe even chopped up candy canes. I didn’t have any or I would have tried it for you.
I had some Weetbix for breakfast and then about noon I wanted something sweet. I didn’t want lunch but I wanted a treat. I’m trying not to have any purchased snacks in the house to ensure that I’m not tempted but then there was nothing to satisfy my sweet tooth. I’d probably have been better off with a TimTam or Oreo but alas, poor planning on my part.
I thought about pie because it’s my favorite dessert but that meant making the dough, chilling it, rolling it out, preparing the apples and by the time I thought all that, I realized I wanted something NOW, not later. I haven’t made these cookies in a long time but they’re perfect for an instant chocolate craving. Even before they set you can eat one with a spoon. (I might have, just sayin…)
If you have children, they’ll love helping to make these cookies because they don’t require a long attention span. From start to finish there’s no waiting, although the batter is a bit warm. Use a small ice cream scoop and the kids won’t touch the warm cookie. They harden in about 15 minutes although they’re cool enough to eat in 5 albeit a teensy squooshy.
This week I went to a photograpy workshop by Christian Uhrig and learned heaps but I apologize that it doesn’t show in these photos. I’m still practicing. I’m trying to learn Lightroom too. I’ve used Photoshop since 1995 but I was encouraged to use Lightroom because of the ease of cataloging the photos. I have a long way to go — I got the photos in there but they aren’t in any catalog. Perhaps I should head to youtube for the tutorials as I’ve been told there are some good ones there. Simone from JungleFrog Cooking also suggests we use Lightroom so I’m definitely going to sort it out.
Sadly, none for Charlie and he wasn’t impressed. 30 seconds after taking the shot above he dropped his ball through the gaps in the fence into the canal and squeezed himself through the deck railing and was happily pawing the sand hunting for that ball. He did get the ball out but not before burying it a foot deep in the sand. I suspect the baby crabs who live there weren’t impressed. Then I had to wash off all the sand on him and the ball and myself. A dog covered in sand who shakes gets it on any nearby surface, including me.
Got a craving for an instant cookie? I definitely had one after cleaning up the dog.

- While mixture is heating, add remaining ingredients to a large bowl and lightly mix.

Maureen, there is absolutely no doubt in my mind that these should be called orgasmic! Now, that may mean that I am either 8 years old or perpetually want something sweet, but whatever the reason – these look incredible and I love how quickly they can be put together.
Maureen says
I KNEW there would be someone else out there with a heart of an 8-year old. 🙂
Madonna says
And me. These sound terrific and they look great. The best part is how quick they are and no cooking. I will make these but I will cut down on the sugar. my sweet tooth isn’t that sweet.
yummychunklet says
I love no-bake! Thanks for sharing!
Maureen says
I like baking too but no-bake means I can eat them right away… always the best if you’re in a big craving mood.
Stacy says
Do not sell yourself short! I think that the photos are lovely and make me want to bite right into one of those cookies. And I don’t normally eat sweets!
Your pooch is adorable!
Maureen says
Thanks Stacy, I look at some food photos and I need a napkin to wipe the drool. THAT’S my goal. 🙂
cquek says
Thank you so much for sharing your awesome recipe
Maureen says
I’mso glad you stopped by!
Terra says
Hi my friend!!!! Your recipe brings back memories, happy memories! My mom always made these for my dad and I, they are our favorite:-) Your pic with your puppy is precious! Hope you are well, Hugs, Terra
Maureen says
Hi Terra, I think anyone who had these as a kid remembers them fondly. 🙂
Marta @ What should I eat for breakfast today says
I’m a sweet tooth. I want them all!
Maureen says
I’ve still got some left, Marta, so come on over. Charlie can’t eat chocolate and my husband’s sweet tooth must have been extracted at birth.
Hester @ Alchemy in the Kitchen says
You’ve got to admire a woman who puts “instant” and “cookie” together in the same sentence and then proves it! I tend to go for fudge when I have that unstoppable sugar craving but these are so much better, Maureen.
Maureen says
yes, eating 3 pieces of fudge sounds indulgent but 3 cookies? 🙂
kitchenriffs says
Wow, I’ve had these before . Or at least something similar. Not something I’ve ever made (my mom did) but the list of ingredients looks awfully familiar. Good cookie! Love the picture of Charlie. I’ve been using the Adobe Camera Raw part of Photoshop to convert my raw files – it’s very similar to Lightroom, although I understand Lightroom does have a few things that aren’t in the Photoshop version. I’ll be curious to see whether you think the cataloging part of Lightroom is worth it. I’ve been doing fine without it, but maybe I just don’t know what I’m missing. But the upgrade policy for Photoshop is so expensive now (you have to do it every time it’s upgraded, rather than waiting 2 or 3 upgrades) that I suspect I’ll be using Lightroom soon.
Maureen says
You know, I said the same thing. I’ve been using Photoshop since we started this web gig back in 1995 and I know it like the back of my hand. I’ve had a play with lightroom but I’m not comfortable with it yet. 🙂
Frank @ Kraemers Culinary Blog says
I don’t have to be 8 years old to crave these cookies. I will never grow up when it comes to cookies or chocolate 🙂 This recipe is new to me and I’m happy I read it. If I have some time I will make some cookies for my kids. Thanks
Maureen says
Your kids will love these, especially if you let them do all the work. I’m in love with your bratkartoffeln but I’m sure if I said it out loud I’d massacre the pronunciation.
Liz says
Oh, I love your pooch!!! And I love these cookies they bring back memories of babysitting and eating these out of the pot! YUM.
Liz says
PS…I’ve been using Lightroom for months and haven’t cataloged a thing. I think I need to find a tutorial, too 🙂
Amy (Savory Moments) says
These look so perfect for when you want a quick and yummy sweet treat!
Maureen says
You are so right and now I wish they were all gone because I want to make something new. 🙂 Loved your sweet and sour cabbage!
Claire - Simply Sweet Justice says
Charlie is adorable! 🙂 Your photos, as always, are just fabulous!
These sound delicious. Plus, since they have peanut butter (protein) and oatmeal, I would say they are healthy. 🙂 We keep having peanut butter recalls in the US, so I may have to substitute Nutella if I can’t find peanut butter.
Hotly Spiced says
I love the photo of Charlie. And I love how you say you can make these with children because they don’t require a big attention span – so funny! I still have a limited attention span! What great cookies. It’s so handy to have a bunch of recipes that are quick, fast and easy xx
A_Boleyn says
Those ‘cravings’ are dangerous things, aren’t they? I’ve got 3 batches of brittle in the house just for that reason. 🙂 The cookies DO look very tasty, though.
Barbara Bamber | justasmidgen says
I remember these lovely little bites! I used to make them for my Kindergarten class.. they were devoured by all! I think of this recipe often.. and know if they were in my kitchen I’d eat them all.. sneaking them one by one! xx
suzanne Perazzini says
I also never buy store bought sweet anything to try to avoid eating them but then I bake and defeat the purpose. i love the sound of how quick these are to make.
I use Lightroom because I shoot in RAW which can’t be edited in Photoshop. RAW has so much more information in the photos that you can transform them even if you are not too happy with what you have shot. The cataloguing thing has eluded me until now and I also need to Google a tutorial in it.
Choc Chip Uru says
Instant cookies are absolutely dangerous but worth it – you are awesome my friend 🙂
Cheers

Claire @ Claire K Creations says
Instant cookies? Well yes please! It’s funny that you don’t find the PB and chocolate combo here much. It’s so delicious!
Nami | Just One Cookbook says
You got me with “10 minute” total time. Really, for this delicious cookies, just 10 minutes? Why I bother trying to be a baker? =) Thanks for the recipe, Maureen! This week is raining and I just got a perfect activity with the kids in one evening… 😉
Priya Sreeram says
aah- this looks a winner 🙂 i am sure my daughter would go crazy about them !
Roberta says
You had me at ‘no bake.’ This is my kind of recipe. Quick. Easy. Delicious.
You should never used Charlie in a photo with food. It was 5 minutes till I saw the cookies. A real scene stealer that one. 🙂
Norma Chang says
I don’t like to bake but I can handle these, would love the addition of chopped up candy canes.
Karista @Karista's Kitchen says
Maureen your blog is absolutely delightful! And “orgasmic”! 🙂 My family loves these no bake cookies. Perfect for a chocolate fix.
Barbara @ Barbara Bakes says
We ate these cookies growing up. So great to have a recipe that’s easy for kids to make and can be enjoyed right away.
Jill Colonna says
These definitely fall into that category, the Quick Fix! Hehee. My girls would adore them and I don’t care what you say, your photos are super. Lightroom? Gosh, so much to learn. I’d rather just eat sweet treats!
Joanne @ Fifteen Spatulas says
Mmmm…instant gratification cookies =) They’re the best!
Maureen says
My mother taught me that all good things were worth waiting for and instant gratification was sinful. Yeah, I didn’t buy into that either. The cookies were yum and right when I wanted them. 🙂
The Café Sucré Farine says
Maureen, this was a great post; not only these yummy sounding cookies (I love having simple recipes like this that can be made lickety-split when the sweet tooth monster attacks!) but also your photography tips. I think you take wonderful photographs and can’t wait to see your new skills evolving!
I’m trying to eat light and lean this week after all the butter and cream last week but your are tempting me …………

DessertForTwo says
I have been craving these for a few days now! I’ve gotta make ’em now!
Maureen says
Ours are all gone. Normally I throw out the last half of everything. Hope you enjoy!
Sara @bellyrumbles says
Charlie is gorgeous! Loving the sound of these ‘cookies’, easy to make and easy to satisfy those urgings. Not having ready made snacks in the house is a great to stop you just munching away. When you have to work to get that craving satisfied you think twice. Okay maybe not with these, as they are so easy to make!
Maureen says
Hi Sara, yeah, these are mix and eat 🙂
Cass @foodmyfriend says
I can understand the 8 year old thing. I think I’m 7. I love cookies. Especially when the 4pm craving comes around. No one should have to have a cup of tea with no cookies.
Maureen says
You’re a woman after my own heart 🙂
